What's in a method?

Module Map

The module map serves as a graphical, high-level view of the method. It shows the phases, threads, and modules and illustrates the relationships among these elements.

The module map is linked to the home page of a method.

Activities by Subject Area (ASA)

The activities by subject area (ASA) matrix serves as a detailed outline of the methodit lists all phases, modules, and tasks, as well as the deliverables, tools, detailed procedures, and roles associated with each activity. In the ASA matrix, modules and tasks are organized by phase.

The ASA can be thought of as a work breakdown structure, and is the most common view of a method.

The ASA matrix is linked to the home page of a method.

Activities by Workflow (AWF)

Some methods also contain an alternate view, called activities by workflow (AWF). This listing uses workflow groups as a middle level (rather than modules). In the AWF, tasks are grouped and sequenced in the order they are performed (rather than by thread).

The AWF is linked to the home page of a method.
