What's in a method?

Deliverables

Every activity in the method produces a deliverable. Modules produce module deliverables; tasks produce task deliverables

.

In the method, a "deliverable" is simply a description of the actual document that is produced on a project. Attached to this deliverable description are sample deliverables and a deliverable template.

  • A sample deliverable is a hand-picked, best-in-class document from a real client project that is provided as an example. Methods contain only a few samples of each type of deliverable; additional samples are available on The Exchange.

  • A deliverable template is a preformatted electronic file that contains a suggested format for the deliverable. Many deliverable templates are derived from best-in-class deliverables that have been stripped of project-specific content, contain boilerplate language, and are formatted with a professional look and feel.

Deliverables Hierarchy

All of the deliverables produced by activities in a method are listed in the deliverables hierarchy. It provides a summary of all the work products of the method.

In the deliverables hierarchy, deliverables that are intangible are italicized. Intangible deliverables are also called outcomes.

The deliverables hierarchy is linked to the home page of a method.
