What's in a method?

Tools

Tools are aids that expedite or simplify the process of developing a task deliverable. In methods, tools are classified as one of six types:

  • Deloitte Proprietary—A tool that has been developed internally in the firm and is considered a market differentiator, such as IndustryPrint, ValuePrint, and StrategyPrint.

  • Software—Purchased applications with a specialized purpose, such as StratBridge Strategic Surveyor (for business strategy assessments) or ABT Workbench (for project management workplans).

  • Reference Material—Background information or theory, such as web sites, manuals, or external methods.

  • Training Material—Presentations and workshop guides used to inform or train the project team in a particular aspect of project work.

  • Development Aid—A tool that aids in collecting, analyzing, or generating data required to create a task deliverable or a component of the deliverable. Questionnaires, checklists, matrixes, and worksheets are examples of development aids.
