1. UNDERSTAND THE CLIENT'S VISION AND STRATEGY...

From the design phase onwards and at all levels of the project team, the client’s vision needs to be thoroughly understood. Understanding the vision will:

· Provide perspective to functionally limited roles
· Facilitate decision-making at project and workstream levels (scope, priorities, issue management, etc)
· Enhance the value of the individuals' contribution
· Provide a unique baseline for managing scope and clients' expectations

The key factor beyond the project's control is the assumption that the client organisation itself understands and buys in the vision and how it translates into priorities for the project!

· Requires communications initiatives and can be supported by dedicated media (project website, newsletter, webcasts, …)
· Can only be achieved with significant involvement at Senior Executive level
